Obituary	Swearingen, Rick, Mrs. (Melody Ann Powell) Memorial services for Melody Ann Swearingen, 43, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Garland Street Church of Christ with Russell Harris, minister, officiating. Arrangements are by Lemons Funeral Home. Mrs. Swearingen died at 1:37 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2003, at her residence. She was born Oct. 3, 1960, in Floydada where she grew up and graduated from high school. She moved to Plainview and worked as a pharmacy technician for Wal-Mart Pharmacy, also for Dr. Stephen Turner and as secretary for Rick's Car Care. On Aug. 1, 1980, she married Rick Swearingen in Floydada. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Ashley Swearingen of Plainview; a son, Weston Swearingen of Plainview; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Aris Powell of Los Angeles, Calif., Jerry Powell of Houston, Buster and Diane Jenkins of Plainview and Donna Burnett of Clovis, N.M.; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Cled and Shirley Swearingen of Plainview. Her parents, Parnell and Frances Powell, are deceased. The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society or to Garland Street Church of Christ. Plainview Daily Herald-- Oct. 15, 2003
